Recap |  Box Score |  Notes |  Feb. 7, 2009 - Lobo Basketball vs. UNLV

New Mexico Head Coach Steve Alford:

Opening Statements:
"We really challenged our seniors at halftime. I thought to start the game our seniors weren't focused. All three of them scored all of our points in overtime. I thought Toppert made some key free throws. I couldn't be more pleased with my seniors with what they did tonight."

On hard play:
"I thought we guarded better and we out-rebounded them. I thought both teams played hard and played well; another team in the Pit we held to 39 percent shooting."

On Tony Dandridge's play:
"Tony was challenged the most at halftime and he responded. He had one shot at halftime. We told Tony if he wasn't going to shoot we weren't going to win. To his credit, he came out in the second half and went 9 for 12."

UNLV Head Coach Lon Kruger:

"We just need to figure out how to play at the critical time to get us on the right side of the scoreboard. New Mexico had (Tony) Danridge, who was tough and made a lot of good plays. We came up short."

On Rene Rougeau's technical foul:
"It's obviously going to affect the scoreboard and the fact that Rene's (Rougeau) out (of the game). I will probably talk to Rene (about losing his cool)."

On overtime:
"It went back and forth. They made a couple shots, we made a couple shots. It was a tie game with 45 (seconds) to go. We had a pretty good look at it."
