Albuquerque, N.M.- The University of New Mexico women's tennis team concluded their first fall invitational on Sunday. The young team gained some much needed experience while facing some tough competition, including three ranked teams in Boise State, Denver and Texas Tech.

Newcomer Laura Richardson came away with a big win on Saturday defeating Arizona junior Jane Huh, 6-3, 6-1.

"I was really excited to get a win this weekend," Richardson said. "It felt great to get the win considering it was my first collegiate victory."

Fellow freshman Kristin Eggleston had some tough battles this weekend. Eggleston split back to back matches on Friday first dueling it out against Christin Thompson from Denver. Eggleston lost the first set 6-3 and came back to take the second set 7-5. Unfortunately the Palm Desert, Calif. product fell in the third set 3-6.

In Eggleston's second match of the day she split sets again this time with Texas Tech's Stephani Peana. The Lobo freshman fell 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. New Mexico will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the Falcon Fall Invitational.
