LAS VEGAS, NEV.--The Lobos advance to an overall record of 16-6 this spring season after defeating the University of Hawai'i on neutral ground. The Lobos have only two more matches left until the Mountain West Tournament on April 27, 2012.
Once the Lobos took ahold of the doubles point, there was no turning back as the Lobos steamrolled past gaining all six singles point.
At number one singles, Jadon Phillips defeated Jonathan Brooklyn with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
At number two singles, Ben Dunbar had a tough first set against Chas Okamoto falling 6-3. He quickly gained some ground after taking the second set 6-2 and then finished the match with a final score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 for UNM.
At the number three spot, Phillip Anderson defeated his opponent Dmytro Kovalyvov with a score of 6-1, 6-3. Since his return from injury, Phillip Anderson is now 3-1 for the last 4 matches he has been in so far.
At the number four position, Conor Berg defeated in close sets Nils Schuhmann with a score of 6-4, 7-5.
At number five singles, Samir Iftikhar played against Jared Spiker winning in tight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
This win puts the Lobos in perfect position to carry over this momentum into their next match against Boise State on April 15, 2012 starting at 11 a.m. MT. This match will be the last home match for seniors Carl Ho, Phillip Anderson, Matthew Neeld, and Ben Dunbar.
