Three Lobos Named All-Mountain West Conference

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2007-08 women's basketball awards today. The league's nine women's head coaches picked the all conference team, as well as the coach, player, newcomer and defensive awards. The University of New Mexico women's basketball team placed three players on the all-conference teams.

Senior Dionne Marsh earns her fourth consecutive all-MWC honor, including her second first-team selection. She was second in the league in scoring (17.6 ppg) and 10th in rebounding (6.1 rpg) during the conference slate. Marsh led the Lobos in scoring in 10 of the 16 conference games, including seven 20+-point outings. In her last regular-season outing, she became New Mexico's all-time leading scorer with 1,852 career points, ranking third all-time in the MWC.

Senior Brandi Kimble received the honor for the first time during her career. Kimble has started every game for New Mexico and is averaging 10.6 points per game during MWC action. She is currently fifth in rebounding with 7.2 in the league. Also, ranks fifth in offensive and defensive rebounds. Her 38.5 3-point field goal percentage is seventh best in the conference. This season, Kimble is averaging 9.7 points per game and 7.0 rebounds. She was named the MWC Player of the Week once during the year.

Sophomore Amy Beggin earns her first All-MWC selection. Beggin is averaging 11.1 points per game this season and 4.4 assists. She had four 20-point performances this season including a career-high 26 against UNLV on Feb. 2. Beggin is third in the MWC with 63 assists and averages 3.94 assists per contest. She is ninth in steals with 28 and eighth in 3-point percentage.
