LAS VEGAS, NEV. -The Lobos put up a good fight at the UNLV Fall Tournament this weekend with Ian Supple advancing in semifinals of main draw in singles, Mads Hegelund and Matthew Neeld advancing to consolation, and Hegelund/McDaniels advancing to the quarterfinals of the main draw in doubles.
In singles, Ian Supple was defeated by San Diego State's Freddy Gelbrecht with a score of 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals of the main draw.
Matthew Neeld came close in the second set against San Diego State's Thorsten Bertsch in consolation but it was not enough falling in the tiebreak with a score of 6-1, 7-6.
Mads Hegelund was defeated by University of California-Irving's Ryan Cheung with a close score of 7-6, 6-4 competing in the consolation bracket.
Mitch McDaniels played against San Diego State's Derek Siddiqui who pushed the match to three sets defeating McDaniels with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, Hegelund/McDaniels played in the quarterfinals of the main draw against Auburn University's Stamchev/Cochran but were defeated with a score of 8-5.
Supple/Neeld played in the consolation bracket against Fresno State's Kartlik/Quiroz but fell with a score of 8-6.
