TOLEDO, OHIO - The University of New Mexico men's golf team dropped one spot to finish in sixth at 54 over par with a 54-hole total of 906 (296, 310, 300) at the 15-team Inverness Intercollegiate golf tournament. The Lobos finished twenty strokes behind tournament champion UCLA (294-300-292=594) at the par 71, 7255 yard, Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
Individually for New Mexico, Jay Reynolds led the way finishing 12 over par (72-76-77=225) and tie for 13th. Other scores for the Lobos: Jay Choi tied for 27th at +15 (79-75-74=228), Madalitso Muthiya tied for 32nd at +16 (74-76-79=229), Tucker champion Ian Medlock tied for 38th at +17 (74-83-73=230) and Charlie Beljan tied for 54th at +22 (76-83-76=235)
Individual medallist honors went John Merrick of UCLA who finished at +3 (71-74-71=216), while Brad Heaven of Toledo finished one stroke back.
The University of New Mexico men's golf team will return to action on Oct. 6-7, at the Club Glove Intercollegiate in Malibu, Calif.
