Lobos Picked To Finish Sixth In MWC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of New Mexico women's swimming and diving team has been picked to finish sixth in the Mountain West Conference this season, receiving 19 points in the conference's coaches poll announced today. BYU grabbed the top spot after claiming six first place votes for a total of 48 points.

UNLV, getting one first place vote, was picked as the runner up with 39 points. Colorado State collected 37 points to take third, edging out Utah by one point. Wyoming placed in fifth, tallying 24 points while San Diego State (11) and Air Force (10) came in at seventh and eighth, respectively.

The Lobos went 0-5 in dual meet action versus MWC opponents but claimed fifth place in the championships with 376 points.

The Lobos start the 2004-05 season Oct. 8 wth an Intra-squad meet at 2:30 p.m. and kick off conference competition Oct. 21 at Wyoming.
