The University of New Mexico women's soccer team travels to Air Force and Wyoming to compete in two of their final three conference games of the season. The Lobos' 10-1-3, 4-0 MWC record has ushered them to their highest RPI in school history at 19. New Mexico is the only undefeated team in Mountain West Conference competition and sits atop the conference ranks at 4-0-0.
New Mexico will take on Air Force (7-8-1, 0-4 MWC) Friday night at 4:30 p.m. at Cadet Soccer Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Lobos have a 10-7 advantage over the Falcons including five straight since 2004. Last year the Lobos defeated Air Force 1-0 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Last weekend's win over, BYU who was ranked, catapulted New Mexico into the national rankings. The Soccer America poll placed the Lobos in the top-20 for the first time in school history with a ranking of 17th. New Mexico is currently tied for 24th in the Soccer Times poll and is receiving votes in this week's NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings.
New Mexico also appeared at No. 28 on the Top Drawer.com's projection of the 64-team NCAA tournament field, including all automatic conference and at-large bids to the field. The Lobos' defense has limited their opponents to only four goals in 14 games this season.
