ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--University of New Mexico head softball coach Erica Beach and her staff are pleased to announce the signing of four student-athletes to letters of intent. The Lobos inked two pitchers and two outfielders. Lisa Rodrigues, Lauren Soles, Courtney Geith and Mariah Rimmer have each committed to UNM for the 2012-13 season.

"Lobo softball is excited to announce the signing of these four student-athletes," Beach said. "We are so proud to include these young women into our Lobo family. They not only bring a huge amount of talent, work ethic, and competitiveness to our program, but they are just great people that fit our style perfectly."

Lisa Rodrigues is a three-year varsity player out of Heritage High School in Brentwood, Calif. Rodrigues is a three-time All-League Pitcher in the Bay Valley Athletic League and has been recognized for her academic efforts by receiving the Distinguished Scholar Award. The signee has also been named third team Best of Spring All East Bay Area as well as Player to Watch and Athlete of the Week by Contra Costa Times.

The hurler has also played first base and spent time in the outfield. Her club team is Lady Hustle 18 Gold-Marshall, coached by Julie Marshall and Teresa Borchard.

"Lisa is a strong and powerful pitcher, hitter, and fielder," Beach said. "She will be effective in all three of these areas. She is a versatile athlete with a great attitude."

Lauren Soles comes to New Mexico out of Simi Valley High School in Simi Valley, Calif., and has three years of varsity softball experience under coach Heidi Bird. The lefty hurler helped her team to claim the Marmonte League title in 2010 and 2011 and was named the league's Pitcher of the Year in 2011.

In the offseason, Soles plays for the Jets 18U Gold under coach Craig Pearce. In 2010 the team was ASA National Champions, ESPN Rise Champions, Best of the West Champions and Colorado Champions. In 2009, Soles helped her club team claim the Colorado Sparkler title and in 2008, her 14U team was California State Champs.

Soles says she felt at home at UNM: "It was the feeling you get when you walk through the front door and you know you just belong."

Beach says having a lefty on staff will be something new and beneficial for the Lobos

"She will be a force in the circle for us," Beach said of Soles. "She moves the ball really well and has excellent power."

Geith is a 5-foot-5 outfielder out of Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria, Ariz. The high school senior helped her team to finish second in the 2010 Arizona 4A Softball State Tournament and reach the semi-finals in the 2011 State Tournament.

Geith garnered second team All-region honors as a sophomore, and claimed first team all-region and first team all-state honors as a junior. She also plays club ball for the Arizona Storm 18 Gold.

In addition to her dedication to softball, Geith spends many hours serving her community. She participates in clothing and food drives with her church's youth group, has taken part in Adopt a Family during the holidays and volunteered at youth softball camps.

"Courtney is a versatile lefty batter who will bring more speed to the lineup and to the outfield," Beach said. "She is one of the most competitive kids I know and will bring great passion and intensity to the program."

Courtney Geith is an outfielder out of Sunrise High School in Peoria, Ariz. Coach Beach says Geith with brings passion and intensity to the Lobo family, and will add speed to the lineup and the outfield.

Rimmer is a native of Riverside, Calif., and attends John W. North High School, playing under Husky softball head coach Elizabeth Wilson.

The outfielder has received Scholar Athlete honors and was named Big 8 All-League her freshman and sophomore years.

"Mariah is just an overall outstanding athlete," Beach said. "She will add speed and versatility to our lineup as well as bring great range and a great arm to our outfield. She is a great person who we know will have a great career as a Lobo."

This is the first full recruiting class for Beach and her staff, as she was hired on June 17, 2010 as the program's fourth head coach.

The Lobos begin the 2012 season at Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., Feb. 10-12.

New Mexico will graduate six seniors at the conclusion of the 2012 season.
