ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico women's basketball will hold its annual Breast Cancer awareness game Tuesday against BYU at 6 p.m. MT inside The Pit. Lobo fans are encouraged to wear pink Tuesday and "Pink The Pit". The "Pink Zone" game features two of the top teams in the Mountain West Conference battling for position in the final regular season standings. New Mexico will be wearing pink warmups as well as pink uniforms, shoes and shoe laces. The first 3,000 fans will receive pink water bottles and howl towels.
The "Pink Zone" game is to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. New Mexico has teamed up with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The American Cancer Society and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
The "Pink Zone" game jerseys will be auctioned off at a later date and all the proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer research.
Every Lobo sport utilizes one game per year to support Breast Cancer awareness. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has designated the month of February as Breast Cancer awareness month and over 1,500 schools and organizations nationally are uniting in the fight against Breast Cancer.
Tuesday's game is sponsored by the University of New Mexico Hospital's Cancer Center, 97.3 KISS and Coyote 102.5 FM.
