SEATTLE, Wash. --- New Mexico women's soccer outshot Washington Friday evening but could not overcome a second half goal, falling 1-0 in the Pac-10/MWC Challenge held in Seattle, Wash. The Lobos took 15 shots in the match compared to 11 by the Cougars. UNM managed to split in two tournament games and walk away with a 5-4-0 overall mark.
The game was a battle throughout and remained scoreless until the 77th minute. Katy Dowling scored the game-winner for the Huskies that proved too much to late for the Lobos. Melissa Beal was credited with the assist on the goal.
UNM had four corner kicks and seven shots on goal against the Cougars. Senior Kristine Sweat and junior Anna Neu led the Lobos offensively with four shots. Defensively, UNM held strong and faced very few shots. Sophomore Shannon Adragna started her ninth straight match for the Lobos and had two saves.
The Lobos return to action next weekend in the UNM Classic held in Albuquerque, N.M. The tournament features four teams, including St. Mary's, Nevada, Northern Arizona and UNM. For more information about Lobo athletics visit www.GoLobos.com.
