ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - One of the premier catchers in the nation dons the Cherry and Silver of the New Mexico Lobos. Junior All-America candidate Rafael Neda is a two time All-MWC performer and has been named to the Louisville Slugger, Pro-Line Athletic, Ping!baseball and the National College Baseball Writers Association Preseason All-American teams. This season GoLobos.com will feature the "Neda Watch," a game-by-game breakdown of Neda's performance. The Neda Watch will also feature photos, videos and interviews with Neda, head baseball coach Ray Birmingham as well as Lobo teammates.

Neda hails from Obregon, Sonora, Mexico and is a three-year starter behind the plate for the Lobos.

Last season Neda led the team and the Mountain West Conference in batting average with a .415 clip. He also hit seven home runs and drove in 49 RBIs on his way to a All-MWC First Team selection.

As a freshman Neda was awarded Louisville Slugger Pro-Line Athletic, Ping!baseball, NCBWA and Baseball America freshman All-American honors. He was also named MWC freshman of the year and All-MWC second team. Neda hit .323 with 45 RBIs and six home runs.

Neda went 1-for-5 with one RBI.

GAME 37 - at Air Force (Game 1) - April 25, 2010
Neda was 3-for-6 with two RBIs a home run and a double. Neda set a new career-best with his eighth home run in a single season.

GAME 36 - vs. San Francisco - April 20, 2010
was 1-for-4 with one double against San Francisco.

GAME 35 - vs. Coppin State - April 18, 2010
Went 0-for-2 on the day.

GAME 34 - vs. Coppin State - April 17, 2010
Went 0-for-4 but managed to knock in a run in a 8-6 victory over Coppin State

GAME 33 - vs. Coppin State - April 16, 2010
Neda exploded with a 2-for-5 performance with five RBIs and two home runs against Coppin State.

GAME 32 - at Arkansas - April 14, 2010
Neda hit .500 (2-for-4) and was 4-for-9 (.444) in a two-game series against No. 9/8 Arkansas.

GAME 31 - at Arkansas - April 13, 2010
Neda was 2-for-5 against the No. 9/8 Arkansas. Neda stole his first base of the season against the Razorbacks.

    Junior All-America candidate Rafael Neda has been named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office today. Neda went 6-for-11, hitting .545 in a three-game series against conference foe BYU on April 8-10. Neda had six RBIs, three runs scored and two tape-measure home runs. Both home runs were in game three's 10-9 victory. This is Neda's first career MWC Player of the Week Award and the third for a Lobo this season.

    GAME 30 - vs. BYU - April 10, 2010
    Went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two monster home runs in consecutive at-bats. Over the series with BYU, Neda went 6-for-11, hitting .545 and improved his batting average 19 points to .355.

    GAME 29 - vs. BYU - April 9, 2010
    Neda went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

    GAME 28 - vs. BYU - April 8, 2010
    Went 2-for-3 on the day with two RBIs and one double in a 11-5 win over BYU.

    GAME 27 - at UNLV - April 3, 2010
    Went 1-for-4 on the afternoon.

    Went 0-for-4 on the day.

    Neda went 0-for-2 with a walk and one run scored.

    Neda broke out of a two-game slump with a 3-for-5 performance against San Diego State. He had two doubles, scored three runs and two RBIs in the 12-7 win.

    Neda went 0-for-3.

    GAME 21 - vs. Utah - March 21, 2010
    Neda went 0-for-5 on the day. Although he didn't have a hit on the weekend Neda still leads the conference in RBIs.

    GAME 20 - vs. Utah - March 20, 2010
    Neda went 0-for-3 with one RBI on the day.

    GAME 19 - vs. Utah - March 19, 2010
    Neda went 0-for-3 on the day.

    GAME 18 - vs. Louisiana Tech - March 14, 2010
    Neda capped a huge weekend at the plate by going 3-for-5 with four RBIs and and two double. Neda was 8-for-21 with ten RBIs, five doubles and one home run.

    GAMES 16 and 17 - vs. Louisiana Tech - March 13, 2010
    Neda's hot streak contiuned on Saturday as he went 2-for-6 with one RBI and one double. In game two of the dobuleheader Neda went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a monster home run that hit off the TOP of the Isotopes Park scoreboard.

    GAME 15 - vs. Louisiana Tech - March 12, 2010
    Neda hit .500 on the day going 3-for-6 with three RBIs and two doubles.

    GAME 14 - vs. New Mexico State - March 10, 2010
    Neda went 1-for-5 on the day.

    GAME 13 - vs. New Mexico State - March 9, 2010
    Neda went 2-for-5 against the Aggies with one RBI.

    GAME 12 - at USC - March 7, 2010
    Neda went 1-for-5 with one RBI to help the Lobos take two of three from USC over the weekend in Los Angeles.

    GAME 11 - at USC - March 7, 2010
    Neda went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and one double.

    GAME 10 - at USC - March 5, 2010
    Neda went 1-for-3 at the plate with one RBI. Neda drove in a run in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game at two.

    GAME 9 - at New Mexico State - March 3, 2010
    Neda was 1-for-3 at the plate and was walked once.

    Neda had a monster game going 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs.

    Neda had his best game of the series going 3-for-5 with three RBI's and scored three runs. Neda went 9-for-18 on the weekend hitting .500. He is currently hitting .433 o the season with six RBIs.

    Neda went 2-for-5 in his first appearance as the Lobos DH on the season. Neda had one RBI on the day.

    Neda went 3-for-4 on the day with one RBI hitting .750.

    GAME 4 - vs. Northern Colorado - Feb. 26, 2010
    Neda went 1-for-4 in a 7-5 win over Northern Colorado. Neda scored run on the day.

    GAME 3 - at No. 1 Texas - Feb. 21, 2010
    Neda went 1-for-4 on the day and is now hitting .333 on the season with one RBI.

    GAME 2 - at No. 1 Texas - Feb. 20, 2010
    Neda went 1-for-4 on the afternoon driving in one run and scoring one. He is currently hitting .375 on the season.

    GAME 1 - at No. 1 Texas - Feb. 19, 2010
    Neda went 2-4 with a double and a single against No. 1 Texas and preseason All-American Taylor Jungmann. Neda also picked off a Longhorn baserunner at third to end the threat in the bottom of the fifth. Texas junior Conner Rowe took to big of a lead from third base. Neda used pure arm strength and lightning fast reflexes to pick off Rowe for the final out of the bottom of the fifth.
