ATLANTA, Ga. - Weather concerns from the anticipated arrival of Hurricane Ivan have forced postponement of the Carpet Capital Collegiate golf tournament this weekend in Rocky Face, Ga. The event, which features 12 of the nation's top 25 teams at The Farm Golf Club, has been rescheduled for Nov. 5-7.
All 18 teams in the field, which includes New Mexico, host Georgia Tech and defending champion Florida are expected to be able to participate on the rescheduled dates. The rest of the field includes Auburn, Augusta State, Clemson, Duke, East Tennessee State, Georgia, NC State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Southern California, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Christian, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
That means the Lobos will return to action on October 1-2 hosting the William H. Tucker at the University of New Mexico Championship Course.
