ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's basketball team will open the regular season Friday, November 11th with the first round of the preseason Women's National Invitational Tournament. The Lobos will host Oral Roberts at The Pit at 7:00 p.m. Both teams went 2-0 in the exhibition season as UNM had wins over Fort Lewis and Metro State and ORU notched wins over Northeastern Oklahoma and Arkansas Tech. The winner of Friday's game will play Cal on Sunday.

TONIGHT'S GAME: Tonight's game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico against the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts University in the regular season opener and the first round of the preseason Women's National Invitational Tournament.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS: UNM was 2-0 in the exhibition season with a 75-48 win over Fort Lewis College and a 77-50 victory over Metro State College. In the exhibition season New Mexico was led by sophomore forward Dionne Marsh who averaged 15.0 ppg. and 8.5 rpg. The Lobos are coming off the best season in school history as they were 26-5 in 2004-05. UNM won their second consecutive regular season MWC title and third straight MWC Tournament championship. New Mexico returns three starter and 10 letterwinners from 2004-05.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Oral Roberts finished the exhibition portion 2-0 with a 99-68 win over Northeastern Oklahoma and a 64-45 victory over Arkansas Tech. The Golden Eagles were led in the two exhibition games by junior forward Elisha Turek who averaged 20.5 ppg. and 7.5 rpg. ORU is coming off a 22-9 season in 2004-05 including the Mid-Continent Tournament championship. Oral Roberts returns four starters and nine letterwinners from last seasons team.

THE COACHES: UNM is led by head coach Don Flanagan who enters his 11th season at New Mexico. Flanagan is 217-94 at UNM. Oral Roberts is under the direction of head coach Jerry Finkbeiner who enters his 10th season at ORU and 17th overall. Finkbeiner is 139-122 as a Golden Eagle and 338-156 overall.
