Lobos Ranked 18th in Associated Press Poll

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Associated Press Preseason Top 25 Poll was released today and the University of New Mexico women's basketball team is ranked 18th. This marks the first time in UNM history that the Lobos have started the season ranked in the top 25 of the AP Poll and is the first time they have started ranked in both Polls (20 in USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll). New Mexico finished last season ranked 24th in this poll.

The Lobos (22--10 last season with a trip to the NCAA Tournament second round) will take on five other teams in the AP Poll this season. UNM will face #3 Oklahoma on December 30, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, #13 Arizona State on November 13, in Tempe, Arizona, #23 UCLA in a possible matchup December 9 at The Pit, #24 BYU on January 10, in Albuquerque, and February 10, in Provo, Utah and #25 Texas on November 17, in Albuquerque.

The Lobos kick off the regular season with three games ar the Veteran's Day Classic in Tempe, Arizona. UNM will play Florida Atlantic on Nov. 10, at 1:30 pm, Arizona State on Nov. 12, at noon and Nebraska on Nov. 13 at 3:00 pm.
