Head Coach Yvonne Sanchez
On what it'll be like to coach against Georgia head coach Andy Landers in Saturday's championship game:
"Every year he comes up with good schemes. He's a good coach, he's had great players, and yes, (Georgia) is impressive. We're just going to get out there, get a game plan together, and play our best."
What is it like to play a team that is also undefeated and is a top 10 team? Is it a way to gauge your team?
"It really is. You can kind of get trapped in that fool's gold situation where you're 5-0 or whatever you're at. We're playing one of the best teams in the country that has a legitimate opportunity to go to the Final Four this year. He's got the team to go to the Final Four. It will really make an impact on our team and we're going to need everybody. It will be fun. Hopefully we'll have 10,000 fans (Saturday) and I'm hoping we get out there and get ready to play against them."
Talk about the game Jourdan Erskine had with 18 rebounds.
"She is an absolute monster. She had the flu that she's just getting over, an ankle injury, and I can go on and on. She'll never make excuses, but that's the kind of leadership Jourdan brings. Six points, yeah. She'll get you 10 if she can (or) she'll get you none, but she'll always get you rebounds. It was a career-high for her. I don't know of anyone else that has gotten 18 rebounds but that makes a huge impact because outrebounding them 50-27 was really big, and most of that was in the second half.
How much more comfortable are you, concussions aside, this year compared to last year?
"I feel like I'm a lot more confident with half a year under my belt already. I know what D-1 is all about and the competition level and I feel like I'm able to adapt better this year being comfortable in my position I'm in."
Do you feel yourself growing more comfortable on the court?
"I think I do. I'm definitely just trying to keep everybody positive when we get down on ourselves and just to let everyone know they're okay and let's just get a stop on the next possession."
Talk about playing Georgia tomorrow. I'm sure you're looking forward to this opportunity.
"Hard work and defense. Defense is all effort. That's what Coach Sanchez wants us to strive toward this year. In order to win basketball games we have to play good defense."
Did North Texas surprise you a little bit how they came out shooting so well?
"No. The only thing that surprised me was that half-court shot at the end of the first half. It just made me a little more motivated to go back out there and play better defense in the second half. We needed to play defense on number four (Laura McCoy) a little tighter because she's one of their better shooters."
How about the shooting on this team? It seems like you guys are getting very confident out there with your outside shots.
"As far as team shooting, it is really improved since the first day of practice. Our percentage has definitely gone up, but we've just been in the gym shooting every single day. There are people that stay after (practice) just to get extra shots, and we can see that really paying off."
