Gary's 28 starts were the most by a freshman point guard since John Robinson II started 30 of 34 games in 1998-99. He led the team and was 8th in the MWC with 3.18 apg. A mark that also led all MWC newcomers. His 105 assists are the most by a Lobo since Marlon Parmer had 182 in 2001, making him just the 5th Lobo freshman with 100 assists. He was second on the team lead with 44 steals. Averaging 1.38 spg put him in 10th place in the MWC in that category. His 26 steals in 16 MWC games tied for third in the league and led all newcomers. Gary also averaged 7.8 ppg which was second among MWC freshmen. His 257 total points is 10th all-time among Lobo freshmen.
