ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ---- University of New Mexico head softball coach Ty Singleton has announced his resignation effective June 30, 2010. Singleton served as the Lobos head coach for the past four seasons (2007-10). He compiled a 69-123 record at UNM. The Lobos finished 11-37 in 2010, including 1-14 in the Mountain West Conference.

"I want to thank Paul for the opportunity to coach at New Mexico," said Singleton. "I've had the privilege to coach a lot of outstanding student-athletes during my four years. My family and I have enjoyed our time in Albuquerque."

Singleton is 274-256 in his 10th season as a collegiate head coach, including stops at Northwestern (La.) State (2001-02) and Missouri (2003-06).

"We want to thank Ty for his service to the University of New Mexico the past four years," said UNM Vice-President for Athletics Paul Krebs. "We wish Ty and his family all the best in the future."

Krebs said a national search for Singleton's successor will begin immediately.
