WACO, Texas - The Baylor Bear's volleyball team was unstoppable Friday night at the Baylor Invitational as they handed New Mexico (1-4) a 3-0 loss in UNM's second game of the night. Baylor hit .430 (49K-12E-86TA) while the young Lobo offense struggled to find their rhythm.
UNM hung with Baylor early on, trading points to a 3-3 tie in game one. The Bears surged ahead with a 12-2 run, cruising to a 30-14 win.
Game two and game three were very similar to first one. The Lobos started off on pace with the Bears but the Baylor offense was to focused. BU used a 5-1 run in game two and a 11-2 run in game three to pull away from New Mexico. Baylor won game two, 30-19 and game three, 30-18.
Senior Kelly Therkelsen led the Lobo offense with seven kills. Freshman Anna Lehne added four while junior Jennifer Heasty chipped in with three. Sophomore Sarah Kwasigroch handed out 15 assists while classmate Gayle Tripp recorded eight digs.
The Lobos return to action tomorrow at noon CT, taking on UALR. They play Louisiana-Monroe in the night cap at 5 p.m. CT.
