-- New Mexico team captains were junior quarterback B.R. Holbrook, senior linebacker Carmen Messina and senior safety Bubba Forrest.
-- The Aztecs' seven first-quarter points were the fewest the Lobos have allowed in the initial quarter since Colorado State was held scoreless in the season opener. Opponents have outscored UNM 125-10 in the first quarters of nine games combined this season.
-- SDSU's 14 first-half points were the fewest New Mexico had allowed since the CSU game (seven points). The 14-7 deficit was also was the smallest since the opener.
-- Running back Crusoe Gongbay's 6-yard touchdown run with 32 seconds left in the first half ended a two-game scoreless drought and was the Lobos' first score since a fourth-quarter TD in Game 6 against Nevada - a span of 141 minutes, 6 seconds.
-- UNM held SDSU to 35 points, the Lobos' lowest since the season opener. UNM ended a string of seven consecutive games allowing more than 40 points.
-- RB Crusoe Gongbay's 6-yard TD run in the second quarter was his fifth of the season. He finished with a career-high 68 rushing yards.
-- Wide receiver Quintell Solomon had a season-high two receptions for 16 yards.
-- Jamal Merritt, who switched from defensive back to wide receiver this week, recorded his first career reception, a 14-yarder for a first down in the second quarter. He tied Solomon with a team-high two receptions and had 18 yards.
-- Martize Barr, who came to UNM as a wide receiver but switched to defensive back to start the season, was back at WR on Saturday and caught his first pass of the season, a 23-yard catch late in the first half for a first down.
-- Fullback Chase Clayton recorded his first career reception with a 5-yard grab in the third quarter.
-- MLB Carmen Messina surpassed Dave Thompson (1974-76) and Robin Cole (1973-76) to move into fourth place all-time on UNM career tackles list with a total of 408. Messina matched a season high with with 15 tackles, his 24th career double-digit tackle game and sixth in his last seven contests. He also recorded his third sack of the season in the second quarter and is the team leader with three on the season.
-- Redshirt freshman Tim Foley saw his first career action on defense.
-- Punter Ben Skaer averaged 39.6 yards on eight punts, getting three inside the 20.
