ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--The Lobos came into this match fired up, ready to play the minute they started to warm up before their match against Northern Arizona. That energy did not seem to vanquish throughout the match as the Lobos went on to defeat the Lumberjacks 6-1.
At number one doubles, Jadon Phillips and Phil Anderson were reunited once again as Phil Anderson came back into the lineup since he was taken out over a month ago due to an injury. The nationally ranked #37 doubles team took the match quickly defeating Waters/Bermudez 8-2.
At number two doubles, Ben Dunbar and Carl Ho were also reunited as they have not played a doubles match together since their first year here at UNM. They led the Lobos in securing the doubles point as they defeated Pezzutto/Martin with a score of 8-2 finishing first.
The Lobos were off to a quick start leading the match 1-0 after winning all three doubles matches. The Lobos took that momentum and kept it going for them as they started singles.
At number one singles, Jadon Phillips faced off against a difficult opponent Robin Pezzutto. The two were at each other throats as they played going into countless deuce points and hearing many cries of frustration. Jadon Phillips managed to keep calm under pressure though as he came out on top winning the match 6-4, 7-6.
At number three singles, Samir Iftikhar was the last to finish as he fell in three sets to Dominic Bermudez. The hard fought match landed in Northern Arizona's favor with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (13-11).
At number four singles, Phil Anderson kept his momentum up from doubles defeating Robert Martin with a score of 6-1, 6-3.
"It was nice to get Phil Anderson back on the court," Head Coach Alan Dils said. "He has been injured for a month or so. He went through the match and said he had no pain which is what I was concerned about. Everything points to his injury being healed and that we can expect him to be playing the rest of the season."
At the number five spot, Carl Ho improved his win streak to 8 as defeated Trevor Unger with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
At the number six position, Mads Hegelund defeated Josh Levinson dropping only two games. UNM won 6-0, 6-2.
"It was our first match in almost two and a half weeks," Senior Carl Ho said. "It was good to get back out there. It was good to get the adrenaline going."
The Lobos next match will be on April 6th against San Diego State in San Diego, California at 2 p.m. MT.
