SCOUTING THE AZTECS: San Diego State, 6-9 overall and 0-3 in the MWC, visits the Lobos after a rough weekend of conference play. The Aztecs fell to 16th-ranked BYU (1-3) and 18th-ranked Utah (0-3). They hold wins over Hofstra, New Hampshire, Syracuse, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Lipscomb.

The Aztecs, who returned four starters and the libero from last year's team that finished fifth in the MWC, sit eighth in the conference currently. Offensively San Diego State is outdone by their opponents but statistically are strong on defense. SDSU is hitting .208 with 14.75 kills, 13.21 assists and 1.58 aces per game while their opponents average .223, 15.42, 13.88 and 1.42, respectively. The Aztecs are averaging a MWC-leading 15.91 digs and 2.61 blocks per game compared to their opponents averages of 15.93 and 2.01, respectively.

Leading SDSU is Melanie Greene, Leah Lathrop, Aime Cordiero and Audra Dent. Greene averages a team-high 3.70 kills per game, 2.75 digs per game and 0.51 blocks per game. Cordiero, with a team-high 24 aces, averages 0.45 pg and a conference-leading 5.70 digs per game. Lathrop dishes out 9.62 assists per game while Dent had a team-high 54 blocks.

SCOUTING THE REBELS: UNLV, 10-5 overall and 1-2 in the MWC, saw its perfect conference record collapse last weekend at No. 16 BYU and No. 18 Utah. The Rebels started the season winning eight of their first ten, but followed losing three of the next four. They beat Nevada on Monday night.

The Rebels, who returned five starters and the libero from last year's team that finished fourth in the MWC, are currently tied for sixth with the Lobos in the conference race. In all statistical categories except aces and blocks, UNLV dominates its opponents. The Rebels hold a .198 hitting percentage, averaging 16.17 kills, 14.69 assists, 0.94 aces, 19.90 digs and 2.43 blocks per game. Their opponents have hit .185 and averaged 14.90 kills, 13.56 assists, 0.96 aces, 17.67 digs and 2.93 blocks per game.

Leading UNLV is Lauren Miramontes, Maria Aladjova, Melody Nua and Jada Walker. Aladjova averages a team-high 3.62 kills per game and 3.04 digs per game. Walker leads the team in digs per game (5.16) while Nua leads the team in assists (11.42 pg). Miramontest averages a team-high 1.12 blocks per game.
