ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- University of New Mexico ski coach Fredrik Landstedt and the ski team thought they were just making an appearance at the April 30, 2010 UNM Board of Regents meeting to be recognized for their third-place performance at the 2010 NCAA Championships.

But there was a surprise in store. Landstedt and senior Malin Hemmingsson were presented the Regents' Meritorious Service Awards. Landstedt has been a part of the UNM ski team family since he was a student-athlete from 1987-89. He was named the program's head coach in 2007 and has led the Lobos to back-to-back third-place finishes at the NCAA Championships in 2009 and 2010.

Hemmingsson recently completed her four-year Lobo career with her third NCAA women's slalom national champion title, only the second woman in NCAA history to accomplish that feat. Hemmingsson is the only Lobo skier to win multiple NCAA individual titles. She earned five All-America honors in her four seasons as a Lobo.
