FORT WORTH, TEXAS--Sometimes there are matches when it all comes down to which team wants to win more than the other. The match against TCU was certainly one of them as the Lobos powered through the Horned Frogs with a score of 4-3.
After taking the doubles point, the Lobos carried that momentum into singles but not without some contest from TCU.
At the number one spot, Jadon Phillips took on Nick Chappell falling in three sets with a score of 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
At number two singles, Ben Dunbar was defeated with a score of 6-2, 6-2 by Facundo Lugones.
At number three singles, Phil Anderson was the last to finish and also clinched the win for UNM as he came out on top against JT Sundling. Phil Anderson won in a close three set match with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
At the number four spot, Conor Berg fell to Daniel Sanchez with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
At the number five position, Samir Iftikhar had a close first set winning the tiebreak 7-0 against Will Stein. He took the second set without much of a struggle winning the match 7-6, 6-3.
At number six singles, Carl Ho kept his winning streak alive as he struggled against Max Stevens. Carl Ho won the three set match with the same score as his teammate, Phil Anderson with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. This win puts Carl Ho at a 13 win streak in singles and he currently leads his team with a dual match singles record of 19-4.
The Lobos are now 3-2 in conference play and with the Mountain West Tournament coming up on April 27-29, 2012; there could not be a better way to finish the spring season than with a win against a conference team that won the Mountain West Championship two years ago.
