WACO, Texas --- New Mexico senior Analise Rubalcava did it all Saturday morning and led the Lobos past Northwestern State, 3-0, at the Getterman Classic. Rubalcava threw a complete game two-hit shutout and went 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run homer. New Mexico is 3-3 on the year with the victory and will face Stephen F. Austin Saturday at 2:30 p.m. MT. The Demons fell to 1-7 overall with the loss.
Rubalcava had her best pitching outing Saturday against Northwestern State. She faced 26 batters allowed only two hits and struck out three. Rubalcava only allowed two walks in the contest and improved to 2-1 on the year.
UNM scored its first run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Gilmore led off the inning with a double and later scored on a Jessica Garcia single.
Rubalcava added two more insurance runs in the sixth with a two-run bomb over the right center field fence. It was her first home run of the season.
Saturday marked the first time Lobo head coach Ty Singleton has faced his former squad since taking over the New Mexico program prior to the 2007 season. Singleton coached two seasons at Northwestern State from 2001 to 2002. He led the Demons to the NCAA Tournament and collected a 75-45 overall record during his time.
