ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ---- Lobo women's basketball head coach Don Flanagan announced today the signing of 6-3 forward Morgan Toben. Toben signed her National Letter of Intent to join the University of New Mexico women's basketball team and is in her final season of an outstanding prep career at Owasso High in Owasso, Okla.
"We are extremely excited about the signing of Morgan," said Flanagan. "We were very impressed watching her over the summer and feel like she can have an impact on our program. She is a strong perimeter player with a good outside shot. She runs the floor well and has a tremendous upside. Morgan is a great student and a true all-around athlete."
Toben averaged 12.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game as a junior last year. She also had two blocks per game and set school records for offensive and defensive rebounding. Toben was named the Owasso Offensive Player of the Year and the team Most Valuable Player as a junior while earning first team all-Frontier Valley honors. She was also named All-Metro honorable mention and honorable mention All-State by the Tulsa World.
Toben led her AAU team to first-place finishes at the Heart of Texas Showcase (Dallas, Texas), the Oklahoma Prime Time Hoops Tournament (Oklahoma City, Okla.), the Houston Basketball Academy (Houston, Texas) and the Jim Close Memorial Tournament (Tulsa, Okla.).
While at OHS, Toben also competed in volleyball and won a State Championship her junior year.
