Lobo Deanna Young captured the top finish in the women's triple jump at the Cal Brutus Hamilton Invitational. The senior, who was competing in the invitational/university section of the event, reached a distance of 12.56 meters (41-02.50). The meet was held at Edwards Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

New Mexico freshman David Brown produced a second-place finish in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.12 meters (23-04.50). In the women's long jump, Alesha Walker finished third with a mark of 5.99 (19.08.00). Also claiming third-place finishes were Kyle Walker in the men's pole vault (4.85 meters) and Django Lovett in the high jump (2.07 meters).

On the track, Sam Evans finished second in the 800-meter Lon Spurrier Invitational event (1:50.15). Fellow Lobo, Gabe Aragon, also competed in the event, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:51.64 (eighth-place).

In the 400-meter hurdles, Charles Lewis secured a third-place finish with a time of 53.70. Yusuf Muhammad followed in fifth (56.23). On the women's side, Kim Perkins finished fourth (1:02.53). Shirley Pitts claimed third-place in the 400-meter invitational dash, crossing the line in 54.55.

The Lobos return to action May 11-14 as they travel to Fort Collins, Colo. for the 2011 Outdoor Mountain West Conference championships hosted by Colorado State.
