Up Next: The Lobos will travel to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Invite. Pre-qualifying will be from Oct. 3-5, qualifying from Oct. 6-8, and the main draw will take place Oct. 9-12. Three Lobos are already slated for the qualifying rounds: Graeme Kassautzki and Johnny Parkes on singles, and the duo of Parkes and Miles Bugby on doubles. Bugby, sophomore Joe Wood, and newcomers Phil Anderson and Carl Ho will participate in the pre-qualifying round.
The Lobos will then host the Balloon Fiesta Invite from Oct. 10-12.
Fall Action: Miles Bugby, Johnny Parkes and, Graeme Kassautzki travelled to Irvine, Calif., for the USTA Futures, a testing ground for student-athletes that have a future at the professional level. Parkes notched four consecutive wins to qualify for the main draw.
Six Lobos took part in the Arizona Invitational, Sept. 19-21. Newcomer Carl Ho advanced to the semifinals, before falling to Arizona's Jason Zafiros, 6-4, 6-3. Zafiros defeated Lobo senior Chandler Brass in the quarterfinals, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1. Sophomore Joe Wood also advanced to the quarterfinals.
How they finished: The Lobos concluded the 2007-08 season with a 20-8 record, the best in 13 years. UNM ended Mountain West Conference play with a 5-1 mark and a share of the regular season title. The Lobos finished ranked No. 41 in the nation.
Head Coach: Alan Dils is embarking on his 13th season as the head coach. Last season he became the winningest UNM's men's tennis coach, finishing with a 164-112 record. Dils was also named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year for the third time.
