John Butcher is in his fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach with the UNM Swimming and Diving Team.

John is the Assistant Senior Coach with Charger Aquatics, leading the training for the Senior 2 group. John is also the meet director for all Charger Aquatics hosted meets.

From 2009 to 2011 John coached with Lobo Aquatics club, coaching the Platinum group and assisting with the Senior group.

From January 2009 to August 2009 he served as the Interim Head Coach for the Midnight Sun Swim Team. Butcher continued to coach the Senior level athletes as well as elite 11-14 year olds, and had qualifiers for Junior Nationals, Sectionals, Age Group Sectionals, and Alaska State Championships.
From 2006-January 2009 Butcher was assistant coach with Midnight Sun Swim Team, working with the 9-14 year olds, as well as sprinters and butterfly/breaststroke swimmers for the Senior Group.

For the 2008 AK High School swim season he was the head coach for Lathrop High School, as well as Hutchinson High School, and Monroe Catholic High School. Butcher led the Lathrop boys team to a 2nd place finish at regionals, at State Championships had one champion and numerous finalists.

Butcher graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a BA in History in 2009, and a Masters in Sport Administration from the University of New Mexico in 2011. John is married to Heather DiLuzio.
