Joe Franklin's Lobos are traveling to Louisville, Ky., to take on the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
The Lobos' women cross country team is heading to Louisville, while the men must wait to know if they've advanced.
The nationally ranked Lobos just need to run well and stay healthy to advance to the NCAA Championships
The Lobos swept the team titles at the MW Championships. The women won their 4th-straight and the men their 5th-straight.
2012: Scored for the Lobos at every meet in which she competed, including a stirring performance at the Mountain West Championships ... Took fourth overall (and second on the team) at the season-opening Lobo Invitational, traversing the 5K course in 18:34.7 ... Notched a second-place team finish at the Notre Dame Invitational, as she placed 26th overall with a 17:13 time over the 5K course ... Claimed 63rd overall at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational, finishing the 6K in 20:37 ... Won the Mountain West individual title at the conference championships, racing through the 6K course in 20:49.97 ... Earned MW Women's Athlete of the Year for her performance, harkening back to her Freshman of the Year nod in 2009 ... Served as the team's No. 3 runner at the NCAA Mountain Region and NCAA championships, finishing the 6K's in 21:07.7 (18th place) and 20:30.3 (67th place), respectively.
2011: Despite only competing at one meet in 2011, Oeding remains one of the Lobos most talented and decorated runners with veteran experience ... Only competition was at the Notre Dame Invitational, where she placed 28th with a 17:35 time.
2010: Was injured, a managed to compete unattached at one meet, the Lobo Invitational, where she finished 14th with a 18:12.7 time.
2009: Continued as one of the Lobos best scoring options, competing in seven meets and consistently finishing as one of New Mexico's top four runners ... Opened the season notching back-to-back top-five finishes at the Lobo Invitational (17:49.16) and Kachina CLassic (18:33.7) ... Posted a 17:24 time at the Notre Dame Invitational to place 36th ... Placed 45th at the Pre-Nationals Invitational with a 21:34 time ... Took fourth at the MWC Championships, finishing in 21:17.8 ... Scored for the Lobos at the NCAA Regionals (26th, 21:41.2) and NCAA Championships (79th, 21:10.1), finishing both times as the team's No. 3 runner.
2008: Enjoyed one of the greatest freshman seasons in program history, scoring in all 6 races with 3 top-25 finishes ... Led the Lobos to their first conference title by finishing second (21:30) at the MWC Championships ... Earned MWC Freshman of the Year honors with the best conference finish ever by a UNM freshman ... Was the No. 2 freshman at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships, placing 11th overall (team's No. 2) with a season-best time of 22:55.9 to earn all-region honors ... Was the 17th freshman (140th overall, team's No. 3) to cross at the NCAA Championships with a time of 21:31.1 ... 23rd in her official debut at Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational ... Returned to the XC course in Feb. of 2009 with a 10th place fininsh at the '09 USA Junior Championships, completing the course in 21:50--just 13 seconds shy of a spot on the junior national team
A 2008 graduate of Jasper (Ind.) High School ... Named an Indiana Cross Country All-Star after finishing seventh at the state finals as a senior ... 2007 sectional champion and a two-time regional and semi-state cross country winner ... Earned class 3A all-state honors as a junior and senior, and was a four-time all-Big 8 Conference honoree for XC coach Kevin Schipp ... Helped the Wildcats advance to the state XC meet from 2004-06 ... Set school records in the 3,200, 1,600 and 3,200 relay ... Swept sectional titles in the 1,600 and 3,200 as a senior ... Also won the 3,200 at the sectional meet as a junior ... Helped JHS win sectional team titles from 2006-08 ... 3-time all-Big 8 on the track for coach Joan Schaeffer ... Also a four-year letterwinner on the swim team ... Graduated in the top-10 percent of her class.
