UNM's women tennis hosts the Fall Invitational

Coach Canada on Bonner:

Ashley played in the top 3 singles and the number 1 doubles most of last year. She gained a lot of experience against some of the best players in the country. This year that experience is bound to pay off in improving her results as we get underway with the Spring season.

2009-10: Junior Season
Went 4-24 overall and 4-16 in dual singles play...5-20 overall in doubles play and 4-14 in dual play...recorded the best conference record of the team going 3-5...4-1 when she won the first set and 2-1 when she splits sets during dual play...split most of her time between the No. 2 and No. 3 singles position...UNM Scholar Athlete

2008-09: Sophomore Season
Bonner improved dramatically during her sophomore year posting a 9-17 record in singles after only playing in five matches her freshman year... went 5-4 in spring play...was 8-1 when she won the first set.

In doubles Bonner went 6-9 with Villanueva-Forte...duo won by an average of 3 games.

Bonner closes out her sophomore year with a 9-19 record in singles and 6-12 record in doubles.

Bonner earned the UNM Scholar Athlete Award in 2009.

Fall 2007: Competed in the first fall tournament before injuring her shoulder... finished 0-2 in singles and 0-3 in doubles.

2006-07: Redshirt season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Los Alamos High School...won the state AAAA doubles title in 2002, 03, 04 and 05.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Charles and Deirdre Bonner...full name is Ashley Nicole Bonner (BON-er)... sister Elisa played for UNM for four years... enjoys white water rafting, riding ATVs, hiking and watching movies... favorite food is sushi... favorite athlete is Marcos Baghaditis... major is in Kinesiology.
