Trent Petrie begins his first year as an assistant coach for the Lobo program. Petrie, who most recently was the Director of Baseball Operations at Oklahoma State University, brings 10 years of coaching experience to the Lobo staff.

Petrie has spent the last two seasons at Oklahoma State. In 2004, the Cowboys claimed the Big 12 Tournament championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to OSU, Petrie the head coach for three seasons (2001-03) at Clarendon (Texas) College. He started the program in the fall of 2000 and built a competitve team in no time, helping lead Clarendon to the WJCAC Northern Division title in 2003. Petrie was an assistant for three years (1997-99) at Hill Junior College in Texas and went to the JUCO World Series with the team in 1997. His first coaching experience came as an assistant for Wayland Baptist in 1995 and 1996.

Petrie played baseball for four years in the collegiate ranks. He spent his first two seasons at Hill Junior College and was a junior college all-star in 1991. Petrie then played one year at Texas Tech and finished his career at Lubbock Christian. The Menomonie, Wis., native earned all-state honors in football and baseball in high school.

Petrie graduated from Lubbock Christian in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. He received his master's degree in Education from Wayland Baptist in 1996.

Petrie, 35, and his wife, Kimberly, have two daughters, Summer (11), and Payge (8), and a son, Easton (6 months).
