Wow, we had to get up early this morning. We got to The Pit at 3:30 a.m. (M.D.T.) to load up the bus. Everyone was on time and eager to get this trip going. We left for the airport at 3:45 a.m. and easily made it through security. The flight to Atlanta was smooth, but I started to hit the wall with our four-hour layover. My parents made it on this trip which is great. They are going to try to go to as many games as they can since it is my last year.
Coach Alford met us in Atlanta with coach Neal's family. This is a great chance for us to get to know each other better, so we were glad that Coach was able to make it back with us. Since I didn't play last year this is also a great chance for me to get to know guys like Roman, David and Jamaal better. It is also fun being around Tony, Darren, Daniel and Chad again.
After a good nap on the floor at gate A7, we left Atlanta around 2:45 p.m. (E.D.T.). This was probably the first time I was actually scared flying in an airplane. It was the first time I had flown over water where you couldn't see land. Made me a little nervous. We landed on Paradise Island at the Nassau Airport at 5:00 p.m.
(E.D.T.). It took a few minutes to clear customs before we crammed into a small bus. The ride to the Atlantis was about 30 minutes as we drove through downtown Nassau.
Everyone was glued to the windows checking out the scenery. None of us have ever been to the Bahamas before, so this is a fresh experience for all of us.
The Atlantis is all it was cracked up to be. After checking in, we roamed around before dinner. We only had about an hour to explore and were barely able to scratch the surface. It can't wait until tomorrow to get out and see everything this place has to offer. Oh, and I get to play in a game for the first time in over a year. It is going to be exciting. Check back and see how we did.
