UNM Track - January 2012

The Lobos start to 2012 year by travelling to the NAU Open and hosting the Cherry & Silver and the New Mexico Invite.


2013 Indoor: Competed in the pole vault at seven meets, placing in the top six every meet ... Opened with back-to-back fourth-place finishes, clearing 16-3 1/2 (4.97m) at the Lumberjack Team Challenge and 16-2 3/4 (4.95m) at the Cherry & Silver Invitational ... Vaulted 16-2 3/4 twice more in succession, placing third at the New Mexico Invitational and sixth at the New Mexico Classic ... Won the pole vault at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, vaulting 17 3/4 (5.20m) ... Took home runner-up honors in the pole vault at the Mountain West Championships, clearing 17-2 3/4 (5.25m) ... Nabbed another second-place finish at the Alex Wilson Invitational, surpassing 16-11 1/2 (5.17m).

2013 Outdoor: Did not compete

2012 Indoor: Competed at six meets, placing in the top-two all but once ... Opened with two ties for first place, clearing 16-11 1/2 at the NAU Lumberjack Open and 16-7 1/2 at the Cherry & Silver Invitational ... Placed second at back-to-back meets, the New Mexico Invitational (17-1 1/2) and the New Mexico Classic (17-2 1/4), including a outright finish at the Invite and a personal best at the Classic ... Took runner-up honors at the Mountain West Indoor Championships with a 17-1 mark.

2012 Outdoor: Vaulted at three meets, including the first round of the national championships ... Claimed two consecutive second-place finishes, including a season-best 16-10 3/4 clearance at the Front Range Classic and a 16-8 3/4 mark at the MW Championships ... At the First Round of the NCAA Championships, vaulted 16-8 3/4 again to place 35th.

2011 Indoor: Participated in seven competitions, all in pole vault ... Opened the season at the Lobo Open, notching a second-place finish with a mark of 16'-0.75" (4.90m) ... Posted a tenth-place finish at the Cherry & Silver Invitational, reaching 15'7" (4.75m) ... Finished third at the New Mexico Invitational, vaulting 16'-1.75" (4.92m) ... Reached 16'-7.25" (5.06m) at the New Mexico Classic & Multis, good for sixth ... Runner up at the Don Kirby Invitational, posting a season-best 17'-1.5" (5.22m) mark ... Finished fifth at the MWC Indoor Championships, reaching 16'-6.75" (5.05m) ... Registered his second best mark at the UW Last Chance Qualifier, reaching 16'8" (5.08m).

2011 Outdoor: Vaulted in seven competitions ... Started the outdoor season at the ASU Invitational with a 16'-2.75" (4.95m) time, earning sixth ... Won the New Mexico Tailwind Invitational with the same mark as in the ASU Invite (4.95m) ... Placed third at the UTEP Invitational with a mark of 16'3.25" (4.96m) ... Finished fifth at the Steve Scott Invitational, reaching in 16'-7.5" (5.07m) ... Won his second competition of the year at the Arkansas Twilight, vaulting 17'1" (5.21m) ... Placed fourth at the MWC Outdoor Championships, matching his personal best of 17'-1.5" (5.22m).


Lettered in track and field for coach Ken Carlson ... Two-time state champion ... Won the pole vault at the 2010 IHSA Boys State Championships with a 17-1 mark, over 2 1/2 feet better than the runner up ... Also claimed the state title at the 2009 IHSA meet with a 15-9 mark ...
