Two-time MWC scorer in the javelin who has NCAA Regional qualifying potential in the event...missed the regional qualifying standard by one inch in 2007...a late addition to the roster in 2006, she gave the team an immediate boost in the javelin in what was just her 2nd season of track & field competition...originally went to Pepperdine to play basketball, but left before the fall semester started after suffering a back injury...joined the Lobo track team in October of '05...21 career javelin competitions...has a redshirt season available...also an accomplished young journalist who has written for the Albuquerque Tribune and writes for the UNM Daily Lobo during the school year...3-time Academic All-MWC honoree and MWC Scholar-Athlete Award winner...has compiled a 4.11 GPA over the past 3 years (Journalism & Mass Communication major)...

2008: (outdoor) Ranked 2nd on the team and 9th in the MWC with a season-best throw of 135-05 in the opener at UNLV...9th at the MWC Championships (130-05)...9 competitions...Academic All-MWC honoree and MWC Scholar-Athlete Award winner...

2007: (outdoor) Came within one inch of qualifying for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships with a career-best mark of 142-05 to win the javelin at Arizona (March 31)...throw ranked 2nd on the team (8th MWC)...went on to place 8th at the MWC Championships with a mark of 130-01...4 top-5 finishes in her 7 competitions...Academic All-MWC honoree and MWC Scholar-Athlete Award winner...

2006: (outdoor) Appeared in 5 meets...notched top-8 finishes in all 5 javelin competitions, including a 7th place performance at the MWC Championships with a season-best throw of 137-11...took 3rd in her collegiate debut at Arizona...threw over 130 feet in her last 3 meets...Academic All-MWC honoree and MWC Scholar-Athlete Award winner...


A 2005 graduate of Albuquerque La Cueva...didn't join the track team until late March of her senior year, but went on to set the school record in the javelin with a mark of 127-09...also won district and city titles in the event and placed 3rd in the high jump at the district meet...named Most Improved Athlete in track...was primarily a basketball and softball player before moving over to track & field...team captain and all-metro selection on the hardwood...helped both the Bears' basketball and softball teams win a pair of district titles...graduated with a 3.99 GPA and was the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper...


Born on Aug. 2, 1987 in Billings, Mont...age is 20...daughter of Joe and Vonne Strobbe...has an older brother, Joe (25), who played football for Oregon in...majoring in Journalism & Mass Communication and plans to go to law school to pursue a career as a sports agent.
