NEW MEXICO: An agile defensive lineman who should benefit significantly from redshirting in 2012 ... has potential to bulk up into his 6-5 frame and become a contributor on the line in 2013 ... already has added 15 pound since his arrival last summer ... is working to master the scheme so he can react, instead of think.

2012: Redshirted

HIGH SCHOOL: One of Samuell's best defensive players the past two seasons...first-team All-District 9-5A as a junior and second-team All-District as a senior...his coach, Steve Pierce, said offenses ran away from Allen his senior year...still finished with 60 tackles, five sacks and three tackles for loss...played in the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Game...had 67 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles his junior year...a four-year letterman in football and a three-year letterman in basketball.

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 16, 1993 in Mesquite, Texas...son of Denise and Daniel Allen...has four brothers, Daniel Jr., Anais, Brandon and William...favorite food is his mom's jambalaya...active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes...was a finalist for the FCA Scholar Athlete of the Year Award in Texas in 2011...wants to study sports medicine...a believer in fate, Darian said when he was 7 years old, he dreamed that he played college football in a uniform that was red and gray - a close approximation to UNM's cherry and silver.
