NEW MEXICO: Fifth-year linebacker who brought ample experience and leadership to the unit...has a great nose for the football ... six career forced fumbles, eight career fumble recoveries and three career interceptions ... played in 45 games with 25 starts over his career ... elected a team captain in 2012 ... a bit undersized, but powerfully built and has good mobility...missed spring practice because of a bout with appendicitis but still added 15 pounds to get ready for the fall ... made a name for himself during a strong spring and training camp performances in 2009 as he pushed senior Tray Hardaway in a tight battle for the starting OLB spot...was outstanding on the practice field while redshirting in 2008 and was voted Most Valuable Defensive Scout by his teammates...came to UNM as a defensive back, but bulked up over the four years and made excellent progress in the weight room.

2012 (SENIOR): Played in all 13 games with 11 starts ... finished fourth on the team in tackles with 59, also had three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, three pass breakups, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack ... contributed a solid performance in the final game of 2012 vs. Colorado State with eight tackles (two solos)... recovered his third fumble of the year in the first quarter against UNLV on Nov. 3, halting the first drive of the game for the Rebels ... intercepted his second pass of the season against Fresno State QB Derek Carr on Oct. 27 and returned in 40 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter ... tied for the team lead with nine tackles (six solo, three assist) against Hawaii on Oct. 13 ... recorded his first sack since 2009 when he pulled down Hawaii's quarterback in the second quarter ... was second on the team with seven tackles (three solo, four assist) against Texas State on Oct. 6 ... recovered a fumble for the second consecutive ... his first fumble return came against No. 24 Boise State on Sept. 29, returning a fumble 47 yards to the Broncos 1 ... recovered his first fumble of the season against New Mexico State on Sept. 22 ... the fumble recovery led to the Lobos' third and final touchdown of the game ... tied for third on the team with five total tackles against Texas Tech on Sept. 15 (four solo, one assist) ... made two unassisted and one assisted tackle vs.. Southern on Sept. 1 ... recorded his second career interception against the Jaguars, returning it 17 yards to set up the Lobos' fifth TD of the game.

2011 (JUNIOR): Solid performer off the bench as New Mexico switched from a three- to a two-LB alignment...ankle and chest injuries limited him to eight games, but he did make two starts...finished with 20 tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery on the year...best production came early in the year with a season-high five tackles against No. 13 Arkansas in week two...three tackles and a forced fumble the following week against Texas Tech...finished with four tackles and a rumble recovery against Sam Houston State in week four.

2010 (SOPHOMORE): Started every game at linebacker...in his first full action, he had a career-high 67 tackles (26 solo)...he was a hitting machine, forcing four fumbles and recovering three, both totals best on the team...had 3.5 TFL...his lone interception came at nationally-ranked Oregon during the season opener...ranked third on the team in tackles...had a career-high 12 tackles at New Mexico State...picked up a fumble against TCU and ran it back 35 yards for a touchdown.

2009 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Saw action in all 12 games backing up senior Tray Hardaway and he led all reserve linebackers with 18 tackles, including 1.5 for loss and a sack (both against Texas Tech)...made one of the defensive plays of the year for the Lobos when he stood up Colorado State RB John Mosure at the UNM 5, stripped the ball, and recovered the fumble with 6 minutes to play...CSU was looking to put the game away, but Stoner's play kept the Lobos alive for an eventual game-winning FG two posessions later...season-high 3 stops in 3 games...also had a QB hurry.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Okla...first team all-state safety as a senior, totaling 86 tackles and 3 interceptions...recognized by the Jim Thorpe Foundation as one of the state's top defensive backs...550 rushing yards and 14 TDs on offense...the Titans finished 10-2, losing to Bixby 37-31 in the second round of the state playoffs...played for head coach Gary Rose...also a three-year letterman in basketball and a four-year letterwinner for the track team...7th in the long jump at the state meet as a sophomore...member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Principal's Honor Roll.
