NEW MEXICO: Four-year starter who has made every long snap on punts and kicks during his entire Lobo career ... physically, one of the strongest snappers is the country with the size and strength of a linebacker ... has a consistent snap time of .65 seconds...technique is nearly flawless and for the past four years has been a long snapping instructor at regional and national specialist camps and competitions ... Academic All-Mountain West, three years running ... was invited to the NFLPA College Bowl in January of 2013.
2012 (SENIOR): Played in all 13 games ... added 16 pounds of muscles to his frame but retained all the speed and quickness in not only his snaps but also his ability to get downfield on coverage ... snapped for 40 perfect extra points by K Justin Adams, extending a streak of consecutive PATs to 80 over the past three seasons ... no bad snaps in 108 attempts (55 punts, 40 PATs and 13 field goals) ... helped both Adams and P Ben Skaer earn All-Mountain West honorable mention honors ... Adams finished 9 of 13 on field-goal attempts ... Skaer finished No. 17 in the country with an average of 43.85 yards per punt, and UNM ranked 24th in the nation in net punting at 39.0 yards per punt ... recorded a tackle against Texas State on Oct. 6.
2011 (JUNIOR): Listed at 230 pounds and was a key contributor on special teams...named the team's Outstanding Special Teams Player, as voted by his peers...no bad snaps in 106 attempts (76 punts, 18 extra points and 12 field goala)...helped K James Aho extend his perfect extra-point streak to two seasons...Aho was 40-of-40 during 2010 and 2011 combined...helped sophomore P Ben Skaer average 39.7 yards per punt...Skaer landed 19 inside the opponent's 20 and had 10 of 50 yards or longer.
2010 (SOPHOMORE):Played the season lighter (235 lbs) and quicker...one of the leading snappers in the nation with 85 punt snaps...helped James Aho record a career-high 51-yard field goal (Wyoming), an 88.9% kicking percentage, a perfect 22 for 22 on PATs and honorable mention All-MWC selection...helped his new redshirt freshman punter (Ben Skaer) to a 40.5-yard season average, a career-high 59 yarder, and 12 punts of 50+ yards...recovered a muffed punt against San Diego State...ended the season with 1.5 tackles.
2009 (TRUE FRESHMAN):Stepped into the long snapping duties the first day of summer camp...helped his punter (Adam Miller) achieve a league-leading and career-high 44.0-yard average for the season and first team All-MWC recognition...helped Aho to a pair of 48-yard field goals and snapped for the game winning FG as time ran out vs. Colorado State.
HIGH SCHOOL:Rated the No. 1 deep snapper in the class of 2009 by Chris Rubio snapping...set the high school record for snapping accuracy at the Chris Sailer kicking event in Las Vegas in January...set the high school record for the Rubio snapping index - a combination of time and accuracy averaged over 12 snaps - in 2008 and broke his own record in 2009...had a consistent snap time of .75 seconds for a 15-yard snap...has been a deep snapper since 6th grade when he was thrown into the spot during a youth game...also played center for head coach Eric Patton at San Clemente HS where he was a three-year varsity letterwinner...member of the National Honor Society with a 3.75 GPA.
PERSONAL:Born Nov. 9, 1990, in Orange, Calif...age is 20...full name is Evan Donald Jacobsen...son of Don and Evangelyn...Evan and his father are the founders of Summit7, a non-profit organization raising funds for housing projects in the countries of Tanzania, Russia, Nepal, Australia, Argentina and the U.S...Summit7's goal is to raise money over the next several years in conjunction with their efforts to summit the tallest peak on each of the world's seven continents...Evan's climbing experience includes Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia and Mt.
