AS A SOPHOMORE (2002-03)...for the second consecutive year was named MWC Player of the Year...named a honorable mention All-American...also named all-conference for the second straight year...set the new UNM sophomore record with her 74.1 season stroke average...stroke average led the team and the conference...ranked the number one sophomore in the nation in 2002-03 according to GolfStat...best finish of the season came at the MWC Championships where Downs finished in third place...finished in fourth place for the fourth time of the season at the ASU Invite and placed in the top five individually in six of 10 tournaments; top-15 in two...was named April (2003) and September (2002) Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month- the lone player of the season to have captured the award twice...tied a career low tournament score of 216 at the UNLV Showdown (76-70-70) and the ASU Invite (71-76-69)...tied her career low of 69 in the final round of the ASU Invitational...finished season ranked No. 24 in GolfWeek individual rankings...along with teammate Christina Spence, she was named the Dollar Rent-a-Car Academic Athlete of the Year for Women's Golf...was named a NGCA Scholar Athlete and a MWC Scholar-Athlete.

AS A FRESHMAN (2001-02)...Downs established a new standard in UNM freshman record books with her 74.9 season stroke average (tied for team best)...was recognized in the month of October (2001) by both the MWC (Player of the Month) and by GolfWorld magazine as their National Player of the Week for her second place performance at the Rainbow Wahine Fall Golf Classic...was the first golfer in the three-year history of the MWC to capture both Freshman and Player of the Year honors...was named to the MWC All-Conference team, MWC All-Academic team and named a NGCA Scholar Athlete (equivalent to Academic All-America)...finished the season nationally ranked No. 81...was named the 2001 Albuquerque Sports Hall of Fame Female Athlete of the Year...during the summer of 2002 Downs captured several tournament titles including the Oregon women's amateur, the Pacific Northwest Women's Amateur and the Oregon Stroke Play...she also qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur.

IN SUMMER PLAY...Downs advanced to the round of 32 in match play at the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship...she shot an 8-over 152 to qualify for match play during the first two days of stroke play..seeded 36th in match play, she defeated No. 29 Lindsay Hulwick 3 and 2 in the first round before falling in the round of 32 to fourth-seeded Sun-Young Yoo of Korea, 5 and 3...Downs won two of her three matches to help lead Team USA past Japan in the 2004 Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship held July 16-18 at the Taiheiyou Club in Ichihara, Japan...the United States won five matches and halved another in the final round to claim a 32-28 victory...the win was the United States' ninth straight and gave the Americans an all-time 22-7 series lead...in the first round, Downs teamed up with UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas to top Yamamota and Miki Saiki, 146-148...in the second round, Downs defeated Japan's Chika Yamamoto, 74-77...she fell to Mao Kohyama in the final round, 73-75...2003 Women's TransNational Champion...2003 Pacific Northwest Women's Amateur Champion...made it to the final 16 at the 2003 U.S. Women's Amateur...2002 Oregon Women's Amateur Champion.
