Lobo Baseball Field

Lobo Field is once again the home of UNM baseball. After spending the previous nine and a half seasons at luxurious Isotopes Park, UNM returned to Lobo Field for good on March 24, 2013, as they hosted a doubleheader against the Nevada Wolf Pack.

"We need to have our own place to play," said head coach Ray Birmingham. "The kids deserve their own field to practice and play on, and now we have that. They have earned it."

Lobo Field received a major upgrade that started last year during the season. It received a FieldTurf playing surface, upgraded scoreboard, dugouts, bullpens, and bleachers as a part of the first phase of the Lobo Field renovation. Further renovations and phases will enhance the concessions areas, the fan plaza between Lobo Field and the softball field, the press areas and the bleachers. Adding lights and a permanent locker room is also on the list of future enhancements to Lobo Field.

"We are very thankful and appreciative of the Isotopes staff that has worked very hard over the past ten years to help Lobo baseball," said Vice President of Athletics Paul Krebs. "We are very happy with our partnership with the Isotopes, and we hope to be able to continue that in the future."

The original hope for the team was to play the 2013 season at Lobo Field. However the team started the year at Isotopes Park as the full occupancy permit was not obtained until recently. The ultimate plan was to eventually play most games at Lobo Field with a potential to showcase a set of games or tournament played at Isotopes Park.
