ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico volleyball team takes a break from Mountain West play with a 5 p.m. MT non-conference match at Texas Tech on Wednesday before returning to the Johnson Center for a 1 p.m. MT "Dig Pink" match against Nevada on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Sophomore outside hitter Jenna Allen has recently returned to the Red Raiders’ lineup and averages 3.68 kills-per-set and 2.40 digs-per-set in 25 sets played this season. Senior middle blocker/right-side hitter Aubree Piper adds 2.72 kills-per-set and hits with .281 accuracy, while junior middle blocker Mikia Mills adds 2.03 and hits at a .255 clip.

PRETTY NEAT

UNM head coach Jeff Nelson's first collegiate head coaching job was as TTU’s head coach from 1995-2002.

LOWDOWN ON THE LOBOS

New Mexico went 1-1 in Mountain West road matches last week, dropping a five-set decision at Fresno State before topping San José State, 3-1. The Lobos enter this week No. 4 in the MW standings.

New Mexico takes a one-match break from conference play, traveling to Texas Tech for a 5 p.m. MT match. The Lobos are at home on Saturday for their annual “Dig Pink” match versus Nevada at 1 p.m. MT.

Redshirt junior Chantale Riddle continues to pace the Lobos and the MW in overall matches with 3.96 kills-per-set and 4.64 points-per-set and in MW only matches with 4.00 kills-per-set and 4.58 points-per-set.

Outside hitters Julia Warren and Cassie House add 2.39 and 2.17 kills-per-set while senior middle blocker Lexi Ross hits at a .356 clip and averages 1.99 kills-per-set and 1.11 blocks-per-set.

Redshirt sophomore Hannah Johnson handles setting duties for UNM and dishes out 10.55 assists-per-set. She is the league leader in double-doubles with 13. Senior libero Miquella Lovato is second in the league in digs-per-set with an average of 4.70. Sophomore middle blocker Skye Gullatt ranks fifth in the league for blocks-per-set with a 1.21 average.

RIDDLE REACHES 1K CAREER KILLS

Redshirt junior Chantale Riddle recorded her 1,000th career kill in the fourth set of the Lobos 3-1 win at San José State on Oct. 19. The Roswell, N.M., native needed 17 entering the match to reach the 1K mark and tallied a match high 20. Riddle is the 11th Lobo in program history to reach the milestone and the first since 2010 when Lisa Meter recorded her career 1,000th.

Riddle needs 37 kills to become among the top-10 in program history in career kills. Nao Ikeda is No. 10 with 1,040 (1986-1989). Riddle leads the league in overall matches with 3.96 kills-per-set and 4.64 points-per-set and in MW only matches with 4.00 kills-per-set and 4.58 points-per-set.

The most kills recorded in a career by a Lobo volleyball player is 1,579, done by Tania Gooley (1991-94).

Riddle surpassed the milestone of 1,000 points earlier this season and currently has 1,177.0, and needs 29.5 to crack into the top-10 in UNM program history in that category. Anna Reines is No. 10 with 1,206.5 (1992-95).

SATURDAY IS “DIG PINK”

The Lobos 1 p.m. MT match versus Nevada on Saturday, Oct. 26 is the program’s annual “Dig Pink” match. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to UNMH Cancer Research Center.
