UNM Golfer Gavin Green To Vie in All-America Event

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- University of New Mexico junior golfer Gavin Green is one of 21 2012-13 All-Americans selected to play in the Western Refining Sun Bowl College All-America Classic that takes place Monday-Tuesday in El Paso.

Green, who won the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the UNM Championship Course in September, was a third-team All-America selection last season. He has finished in the top 20 in all five fall events he has entered and is ranked No. 18 among collegiate golfers in the nation by Golfweek.com.

Ten of the 21 players in the event are ranked in Golfweek.com/Sagarin’s Top 50, led by No. 2 Ollie Schniederjans of Georgia Tech.

John Catlin represented New Mexico in this event in 2012, finishing tied for sixth among the field of 23 with a 9-under 204 on the par-71 course at the El Paso Country Club.
