ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The Lobos earned their third consecutive victory after taking down the Idaho Vandals 5-2 in a mid-day battle at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex on Tuesday.

Andrew Van Der Vyver and Hayden Sabatka picked up their third win as a doubles duo after defeating UI’s Matt Oddonetto and Odan Barta 8-4 to start the match. Undefeated doubles team Rodolfo Jauregui and Mads Hegelund clinched the point for the Lobos after winning in a close tiebreaker in the No. 3 spot.

The Lobos finished with a score of 4-2 in singles competition. Samir Iftikhar, Sabatka, Hegelund, and Van Der Vyver all claimed wins over the Vandals. Jauregui and James Hignett were both defeated in highly contested tiebreakers.

Tuesday’s win puts UNM at 4-0 all-time against UI and 11-3 on the season.

The Lobos will hit the road for the first time this season as they head to California to battle Santa Clara this Friday and Fresno State on Sunday.
