ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team looks to claim its first win against a ranked opponent when they host No. 57 Denver on Saturday at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex at 11 a.m. MT. UNM is 0-3 against ITA ranked opponents so far this season.

After picking up a 1-1 road record last weekend in California, the Lobos return home to square off against the Pioneers.

DU has lost its last two matches and is hoping to snap the streak with the Lobos. The 6-4 Pioneers have had a pretty impressive season so far as they’ve tallied wins and against No. 49 Brigham Young and No. 52 Middle Tennessee State. DU’s losses have all come from ITA ranked teams, including No. 1 Ohio State.

The Pioneers are bringing in a nine-man lineup that includes seven freshmen and No. 101 Henry Craig. Craig will face Samir Iftikhar in No. 1 position on Saturday and it won’t be the first time the two opponents meet up this season. In October, Craig took the ITA Mountain Regional Championship title from Iftikhar after defeating him 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Needless to say, some uneasy feelings may be shown on the court.

UNM will have to be ready to play from start to finish if they want to pull of the upset.

The Lobos currently hold a 23-17 all-time record against the Pioneers.

Full results will be posted on golobos.com at the end of the match.

Head to the UNM Men’s Tennis Twitter page for full in-match updates and scores.
