ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico Swimming and Diving team is not only recognized for how hard they hit the water but also for how hard they hit the books.The 2014 Spring CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams Award marks the eighth consecutive semester the Lobos have been eligible for such an achievement.

The Team Scholar All-America Award is a prestigious accolade sponsored by Nike Swim and announced by the College Swimming and Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). College and university teams around the nation who reach a cumulative team grade point average of a 3.0 or higher are recognized during both the Fall and Spring semester for their efforts in the classroom.

New Mexico ranks fourth highest amongst the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Teams with a 3.61 grade point average. They also lead the way for nine Mountain West affiliates who totaled a GPA of:

Boise State         3.48        Utah State          3.26        Wyoming             3.11       

Colorado State   3.03         Nevada              3.37        San Jose State    3.32      

UNLV                  3.59        San Diego          3.26        Hawaii                 3.23

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America was founded in 1922 and stands as the oldest coaches’ organization in the country. The CSCAA recognizes those who qualify for the Scholar All American Awards and the All American Swimmers and Divers at the national championships every year.
