ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico volleyball team hasn’t slowed down since it began the 2014 preseason on Wednesday, August 6.
On Wednesday, the team met for equipment, met for its annual compliance meeting and got to know each other through a team meeting that included team bonding exercises followed by a team dinner. The next day, the team was up for breakfast and at practice doing passing drills by 8:30 a.m. The Lobos had a break for lunch at 11:45 a.m. and was back in the gym for their second practice of the day at 2:30 p.m., working on team drills and figuring out each other’s style.
The rest of preseason looks pretty similar to the first day of practice. The Lobos will be on a two-a-day schedule until UNM starts school on August 18. The team will participate in other activities throughout the preseason, including the freshmen moving into the dorms, more team bonding events and more meetings.
Sophomore Devanne Sours has started a daily inside scoop blog for fans to know what is going on with the team and how the preseason is going. She will be blogging every day until the Lobos 2014 season begins. Visit GoLobos.com, click on volleyball and you will find her stories under “Inside Lobo Volleyball With Devanne Sours”.
