She had to battle to try and crack the talented Lobo lineup but got in six rounds as a UNM freshman.  In UNM's fall season of 2014, Thayer carded her best 18 holes on the final day in each of the five events (including dual with UTEP).

Thayer is in her second year at the University of New Mexico.  She comes to the Land of Enchantment from West Albany High in Albany, Ore., where she was both an outstanding golfer and an exceptional student.

Kalyn was valedictorian at West Albany High  where she also was a Presidential Scholarship Candidate and voted the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete. She was a member of Society of Women Engineers.

Kalyn played golf for Coach Dennis Reetor at Albany High and was an All-State performer in 2011, 2012 and 2013.  Her team won district titles in 2012 and 2013. She also lettered in soccer and cross country.
