Manon Molle'
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Bains sur Oust, France
High School: CNED Rennes
Experience: High School

Sophomore Manon Molle' had one of the best freshman seasons ever at the University of New Mexico during UNM's Mountain-West winning campaign of 2013-14. Molle' finished with a 75.69 scoring average over ten events and 29 rounds. Molle' was UNM's top finisher at the 2014 Mountain West Championships with a fifth-place card.  She went into the final round tied for first place.

"Mimo (Molle') is one of the more competitive golfers I've ever coached," said Lobo Coach Jill Trujillo.  "She is a hard, hard worker and that work ethic is an example to the whole team.

“I was so impressed by the steadiness that I saw in Manon. She made a lot of improvement from the first semester to the second and most of the improvement was figuring out how to control her emotions on the golf course."

To put Molle's freshman stroke average of 75.69 into perspective, just look at the averages that last year's seniors -- Sammi Stevens, Manon De Roey and Sofia Hoglund -- posted in their rookie seasons at UNM. Stevens, one of the more consistent UNM golfers ever, had a 76.32, DeRoey came in at 77.90 and Hoglund had a 81.44 as a freshman.

Molle' had a small setback to begin the 2014-15 season as she fractured a bone in her foot and had to miss the four tournaments held in fall season. She did play in a 36-hole event held with Texas-El Paso on Feb. 7-8 and showed outstanding form in turning in a card of 71-67.  She was the medalist in that dual match.

Molle' said sitting out the fall season was "one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I wanted to be out there so badly helping my teammates."  She is expected to be at full strength for the spring season and should be a Lobo leader on and off the course.

“She is going to be quite a force in the future and the coaches in the conference recognized that as well when they voted her all-conference honors," said Trujillo. "You always have to have a top gun and if you get two you are lucky.  She is going to be a good leader for us.”

Molle' came to New Mexico via Bains sur Oust, France, and she was expected to make an impact on Trujillo's lineup in her first season. Molle' played a lot of junior golf in Europe including a spot in 2010 on the European Team in the Junior Ryder Cup.  She played for France in a number of tournaments including the European Team Championships and national matches vs. Spain and England.

Manon says her favorite athlete is Irish professional golfer, Graeme McDowel and when it comes to food Manon says she likes "everything."  Her favovite movie is "Dirty Dancing" and when not practicing golf, she likes to play tennis and listen to music.  Her nickname is "Mimo."

FRESHMAN (2013-14): To put Molle’s freshman campaign and her 75.69 stroke average into quick perspective, consider this:  Manon De Roey had a 77.90 average as a Lobo rookie and Sammi Stevens had a 76.23 average – as a sophomore.  Here is another telling stat: De Roey and Stevens both shot in the 80s once last season as seniors.  Molle had only been in the 80s once last year as a D-I rookie in her 29 rounds played for UNM.  Molle finished in the Top 25 four times including a season and career-high fifth place at the 2014 Mountain West Championships. She recorded UNM's best round (76) on the final round of the NCAA Regionals and finished tied for 49th place. She had two other Top 20 finishes in the spring of 2014: 20th at the Colorado State Invitational and 19th at the Silverado Showdown.
