University of New Mexico head women's golf coach Jill Trujillo has announced Katerina Jaeger (ya-gur) has signed a national letter of intent to attend UNM as a freshman in the fall of 2013.
Jaeger, 19, joins fellow signees Manon Molle and Eva Saulnier as new Lobos in the fall.
A native of Stavanger, Norway - which is located in the far southwestern corner of the country - Jaeger will graduate from St. Svithun VGS in June. She has a 4.0 grade-point-average in high school and was elected to student council four years at St. Svithun.
Jaeger played in 17 individual and/or team competitions in 2011-12. In 2011, she won the Titleist Region Tour (70-69=139) and the Titleist Tour No. 3 (73-73-75=221), which is the highest level of competition in Norway for girls under 19. Jaeger was also a member of the winning team at the 2012 Norwegian girl's team championship. She has competed in tournaments in Germany and Wales as well.
In 2010, Jaeger was the top point scorer for her country in the Tinius Cup, a competition between Norway and Sweden played in a Ryder Cup format. For her effort, Jaeger earned a trip to the 2011 Solheim Cup in Ireland.
"We're excited to add Katerina to our class for 2013," said Trujillo. "She has performed at a high level for several years."
In addition to her golfing skills, Jaeger has competed in tennis and track and field. She has also been part of the Stavanger Theater since 2006. Jaeger has acted in four plays - close to 100 total performances - including "Snow White," "Journey to the Christmas Heart," "The Thousand Hearts," when she played the lead role, and "The Tempest."
