Highly-competitive individual who has been in the starting lineup since coming to UNM as a freshman...last name is pronounced BUCK-ner...a great teammate who has the desire to win all the time...two-time National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar, and three-time UNM and Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete Award honoree...has a 3.65 cumulative GPA, majoring in Management...took 21 hours during the 2012 spring semester...will receive her bachelor's degree in just over three years after summer classes, then begin an M.B.A. program in the fall.

JUNIOR (2011-12): Spring season was marred by a nagging lower back injury that limited Buchner to three tournaments and eight rounds, and just 20 of a possible 32 total rounds overall... 79.63 stroke average in the spring after averaging 76.00 in four fall tournaments/12 rounds...a breakout performance in October at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla...finished tied for 3rd after shooting a career-best 69 in the final round when the average score was 78.43 on a cold, windy day...started the day in a tie for 22nd, but posted a round with four birdies (1, 2, 8 and 13) and a bogey...she recorded personal bests for best score in relation to par (+1), low 54-hole total (74-74-69=217) and best finish (tie for 3rd)...also shot 71 in the final round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club...first collegiate eagle came in the 1st round of the NCAA West Regional at Colorado National when she rolled in an 8-footer on the par-5 12th hole.

SOPHOMORE (2010-11): A 76.61 scoring average in 28 rounds, which is 1.69 shots better than her freshman average of 78.30...missed the Arizona Invitational in February due to minor surgery...shot a career-low 71 (1-under) in the final round of the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo...finished the tournament at 4-over 220 and in a tie for 22nd place - her low total for 54 holes and best finish as a Lobo...also tied for 22nd at the MWC Championships at Litchfield Park, Ariz. (Wigwam Heritage GC) at 9-over 225 (76-74-75)...UNM's top finisher at the Bruin Wave Invitational at Robinson Ranch GC in Santa Clarita, Calif., tying for 26th at 227 (+11), and at the NCAA West Regional at Washington National in Auburn, Wash., tying for 58th at 233 (+17).

FRESHMAN (2009-10): Played in all 11 tournaments...78.30 scoring average in 33 rounds...top two rounds came at the PING/ASU Invitational, a 74 on the first day and a 73 in the final round...shot 223 in Tempe for her lowest 54-hole total as a Lobo...also a 2-over 74 in the final round of the NCAA Championships...75 in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire Invitational and in the final round of the MWC Championships.

HIGH SCHOOL/JUNIOR GOLF: A 2009 graduate of Loveland (Colo.) High School where she was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Doug Schneider...2008 Colorado Women's Golf Association junior golfer of the year....won the state 5A individual championship her senior season and finished second as a sophomore and junior...as a sophomore, Buchner shot a ladies course-record 66 in the final round of the Birleffi Invitational at Boomerang Links in Greeley, Colo...that amazing score cost her father, Mike, a car since he promised his daughter an automobile if she shot 69 or better...she still drives the 2001 Volvo S60...Buchner competed in numerous junior tournaments during the summer of 2008, including the Callaway Junior Worlds in California, the U.S. Junior Championships in Connecticut and the America's Cup in Calgary, Alberta, Canada...she closed out the summer with a second-place finish at the Big Eye Junior Classic in North Carolina...shot a 69 in the final round, including her first hole-in-one.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 12, 1991, in Singapore...full name is Bethany Lou Buchner...daughter of Mike and Jinger...likes playing the guitar, wakeboarding and snowboarding...older brother Mitch is a senior golfer at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs...older sister Brittney goes to nursing school.
